JANUARY - MOUNTAIN PAINTING TECHNIQUES

This class is all about learning painting techniques for various types of mountains.  Along the way, we will also be studying various skies.  18" x 24" canvas panel which is sub-divided into several study panels.  Oil paints.  John Heinrichs is the instructor.

FEBRUARY - ROSES

This month we will work on floral painting techniques with Roses as the topic of study.  12" X 16" black canvas panel and oil paints.  Attending artists have a choice of Red Roses or Yellow Roses.  John Heinrichs is the instructor.

MARCH - BIRDS

March project painting is to be rescheduled.   We will delve into painting techniques for BIRDS.  This will be an interesting session as we will first paint acrylic values onto the 12" X 16" canvas panel.  When dry we will paint with oils to reveal an interesting bird.  Not foul, but fowl!  John Heinrichs is the instructor.

APRIL - SEASCAPE PAINTING TECHNIQUES

We provide an interesting curriculum of painting techniques to keep our classes interesting.  April project painting is to be rescheduled.  We will be looking at painting techniques for SEASCAPES.  12" X 16" canvas using oil paint.   John Heinrichs is the instructor.

MAY - PORTRAIT WORKSHOP FEATURING VALERIE STEWART

This is a special 4-day workshop with acclaimed portrait artist and instructor, Valerie Stewart.  Seating is limited.  Completed registration deadline is April 1, 2019.  Each attending artist will paint 2 of their very own portraits.  They can be two separate canvases (20" x 16", recommended, except for children) or two faces on one canvas (24" x 18", recommended). Your portraits can be of two individuals, two pets, or one of each.  This is a special event as Valerie has not taught a public workshop in California for many years.  She presently teaches workshops all over the USA, except in California.  So, this is a unique opportunity.  Oil paints on stretched canvases.

JUNE - KNIFE PAINTING TECHNIQUES

June we will have some fun with painting techniques for KNIFE PAINTINGS.  This is a loose, fun way to paint with impressionist results.  11" x 14" canvas panel using oil paints.  John Heinrichs is the instructor.

JULY - TREES AND ROCKS

June we will be investigating the painting techniques for trees and rocks.  16" x 20" canvas panel using oil paint.  Canvas panel will be subdivided into separate painting panels to study various trees and rocks.  John Heinrichs is the instructor.

AUGUST - ACRYLIC PAINTING TECHNIQUES

August, we will be learning painting techniques for ACRYLIC PAINTINGS.  We will learn how to paint opaque using transparent acrylic paints.  12" x 16" canvas panel using acrylic paint.  John Heinrichs, is the instructor.

SEPTEMBER - BARNS

In September, we will add a little structure to our painting by learning techniques for BARN PAINTINGS.   This will involve use of an acrylic underpainting followed by oils on the dried canvas.  12" x 16" canvas panel using multi-media (acrylics and oils).  John Heinrichs is the instructor.

OCTOBER - WATERFALLS

In October, we will investigate the painting techniques for outstanding WATER FALL PAINTINGS.  Here again, we will use a multi-media approach with under painting in acrylic paints followed by oils on the dried canvas.  12" x 16" canvas panel using multi-media.  John Heinrichs is the instructor.

NOVEMBER - OLD MASTER TECHNIQUES

In November, we will reflect back to the Old Master artists and the techniques they used to create the paintings you see in many museums, but with a modern twist.  We will be toning the canvas using acrylics followed by a value painting also in acrylics.  Lastly, oils will be glazed onto the monochromatic under painting to create your very own treasure.  12" x 16" canvas panel using multi-media.  John Heinrichs is the instructor.

DECEMBER - WINTER SCENE

What could be more appropriate in December?  A winter scene!  12" x 16" toned canvas panel using oils.  John Heinrichs is the instructor.
